Little League Baseball in Bermuda
Coaching and Umpiring
Bermudians have grown up playing soccer and cricket and few Bermudian adults on the Island have ever thrown a baseball. But with an expatriate work community approaching 15,000, and as the good news about our league has begun to spread, we have begun to attract more skilled people to our coaching ranks. It's this increase in the quality of instruction and the resulting improvement in players' execution which has given us the confidence to consider competing outside our small Island home.

Facilities
For the last 4 years we have put a major effort into upgrading our facilities and now have fields that we are quite proud of. Bermuda being so small, finding space is always a major issue so we are, at the moment, limited to 4 T-Ball Fields, and 1 field for each of the other Divisions.

Seasons
Our regular season extends from early March into July and we also have a Fall Development League from September thru December for players in the Little League Division.

About Bermuda
Bermuda enjoys one of the highest per capita incomes in the world. Its economy is primarily based on providing financial services for international business and luxury facilities for tourists. A number of reinsurance companies relocated to the island following the 11 September 2001 attacks and again after Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, contributing to the expansion of an already robust international business sector. Bermuda's tourism industry - which derives over 80% of its visitors from the US - continues to struggle but remains the island's number two industry. Most capital equipment and food must be imported. Bermuda's industrial sector is small, although construction continues to be important; the average cost of a house in June 2003 had risen to $976,000. Agriculture is limited with only 20% of the land being arable.

" Our time zone is Atlantic Time, the same as countries like Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Bolivia
" The population is 65,000 including 15,000 expatriate workers
" The island is an overseas territory of the UK
" Bermuda is 21 miles long and about 1 mile wide
" All of Bermuda fits in 20.7 square miles, about one-third the size of Washington, DC

Where is Bermuda?
Many people mistakenly believe our island is part of the Caribbean. In fact, we rest hundreds of miles north of the Bahamas in an astoundingly beautiful stretch of the Atlantic. A mere 1046KM / 650MI east of North Carolina, flights from New York City reach our shores in less than 2 hours with flights from Miami reaching Bermuda in 3 hours.
